My basketmaking life started under the tuition of Sheila Wynter who showed me how to make willow and hedgerow baskets. To learn more about basketry I took a part time four year City and Guilds course “Creative Basketry” at the City Literary Institute in London which greatly increased my knowledge and skills. Olivia Elton Barrett taught me many techniques using rush which has enabled me to develop further and I now run rush workshops.
I love the colours of hedgerow materials gathered in Milton Keynes which are used in popular workshops which we have run for many years. The quality of English soft rush is a delight to work with and is a wonderfully flexible material to which many techniques can be applied.
