Mark was born in Glasgow in 1962. He was always interested in photography until in the last 14 years he started to discover a passion for painting. He is based in Inverness and Ceres, Fife. He paints in Oils and uses both brush and palette knife to create his work. As a great fan of the Colourists and the Impressionists – it has been an influence on his painting style.
His subjects range from Scottish seascapes to Venice with Wild Poppies and the Fife coast being favourites. He has also done colourful paintings depicting still life. A more recent subject has been that of depicting the activity of skiing scenes.
One of his favourite overall subjects has remained the West Sands of St. Andrews – where his painting career started. Photography was always a keen interest before this.
