Born in Durham City 1934 has lived in Swordale, Evanton, for over 30 years teaching in several local schools, most latterly in Dingwall Academy.
Studied art in Newcastle University and the Slade School of Art ,London. Lectured in Art History and Foundation Studies in Chester and Wrexham schools of art before the move north in 1976.
Used to be better known as an abstract painter, showing in John Moores Liverpool Exhibitions, The Arts in Europe (Brussels), Wales and the Modern Movement (Aberwstwyth University) and a number of touring shows with the Arts Council, “Group 75” etc. Work in various collections including John Moores, Bertrand Russel Peace Foundation, the Welsh Collection & many private collections
Love of the Scottish & Norwegian mountain landscape is an enduring thing, hence the return to a very early interest in landscape painting, and also being a mountain walker climber and skier I’m continually finding new material and ideas.
In addition to the above, I have shown quite regularly with the Royal Scottish Academy over recent years – also with the Scottish Gallery / Sothebys .
