I work mainly in scrap fabrics locally sourced from tweed and textile mills to produce a range of desirable products. I love to incorporate the natural flaws, rough edges and faults in the fabrics and off-set by unusual buttons and trims. I put different fabrics together in unusual and creative ways adding yarns and leaving seams on the outsides of my products to enhance the textures and the colours.
I try to create products that are contemporary, quirky and fun and these are often made from very traditional Scottish fabrics, tartan and tweeds. I use simple sewing techniques to produce practical good quality products but which are sculptural and exciting to use and wear.
I make a range of “wearable” products such as Handbags, Scarves, Purses, Corsages, Brooches, Frumpy Fairies and Cannie Men along with Cushions to compliment the range.
These come in two shapes either rectangles or triangle. They are made from fabric, yarn beads and buttons. Each one is individually made and comes on a card with an envelope. They make beautiful unique gifts.
To compliment the fairies and not leave the boys out I have Cannie Men. Who have little kilts, sporrans and lambswool or cashmere jumpers.
Each fairy and man is unique and is lovingly made with scrap fabric, yarn, buttons and beads with metal arms and legs. They can sit or be hung up around the house. Tell them your wishes and perhaps they will come true.
