JANET ADAM: The Adam Pottery
I first saw a pot being thrown when I was ten years old; the seeds were sown and clay stayed in my life, in various ways, from then on. Twenty-five years later I embarked on life as a potter, rather than as an unenthusiastic secretary, and have been potting in Edinburgh ever since.
While my wheel-thrown work remains at heart functional nowadays Ȯone-offȯ pieces predominate; small porcelain bowls and decorative wall-plates contrast withlarge planters and high-fired reduction glazes continue to result in surprises. Inspiration grows through accumulated knowledge, leading towards whatever the next step may be.
