Charlotte Watters

I live and work in Ullapool, Wester Ross

I studied Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 2005 with a BA honors and in 2007 with a MFA. Since graduating I have continued with my sculptural work as well as developing my drawing and painting, exhibiting regularly and undertaking various residencies in this country and abroad.

Along side this I have been working with silver, making jewellery which I produce under the name Wattermark.

My work is influenced by out door environments and by animals and artifacts from an exterior landscape. My background in sculpture feeds into my jewellery work, through materials and techniques and to some extent through concept. I make jewellery with silver and found materials which are often non precious but are chosen for their own individual qualities and for their potential to communicate their histories, or previous uses.

I am a collector of things which catch my eye, when walking (in particular). I use these directly in my work, or take influence from them, and work from the sense I derive from my collections; mixed and varied, natural and man made, new and old: worn

Other works by Charlotte are available at the gallery.
