Bryce Reynard broody hen basket

I come from a background of 42 years as a professional Forester in the Forestry Commission and a strong interest in the natural world.  A love of rope work and utilising local materials took me into basket making.

A “Basket Making with Birch Bark” course in Tore village hall in 1999 led by two Danish tutors was a life changing experience.  Since then I have taken a great interest in utilising products from the birch trees in the Highlands.  I use the roots, stem, bark, twigs, leaves, seeds and sap to make useful and interesting items.  You will never look at a birch tree in the same way again!
